  2. Lord Ventry was landlord of a part of Kerry. He owned from Kerry head to Cordal beyond Castleisland and a lot of land is Bally McElligott also. He was a good landlord and built houses for his tenants. He built about eight houses in Cordal and sir in Tylough.
    Lord Ventry's name was Colonel De Moylens, but he derived the name Lord Ventry from Ventry locality where his home was. He was a member of the House of Lords in England. He was a kind and good lord to his tenants. An old man in the town of Castleisland named Con Murphy says that a local man evicted all his tenants and when they were driven out they built small huts for themselves to live in.
    In the time of Cromwell about 2 &3 years ago Cromwell brought landlords from England and most of them were called planters. Then he hunted
