    Aherne have attended sports within County Kerry and have also won many prizes.
    Denis O'Rourke, Culnacallee, Currens can lift a tankard full of milk into a car without assistance.
    Daniel O'Sullivan, Inchinvima, Currens is also a very strong man. He can lift sacks of meal and potatoes quite easily. Dan and James Daly, Kilfalney, Currens are also very strong men.

  2. About twenty years ago, there was a famous Tug o' War team in Currens. In 1921 they won the championship of Munster at Killarney beating the Ballyvourney team who also aimed at being the Munster champions
