  1. John O'Sullivan Killeen, was a great singer and composer. For a time he lived at his cousin's house, Mary Healy's Clashatlea, doing all the farm work without any pay. Mary Healy married a man named Marshall who was a great plough-man and owner of a grey mare. Sullivan thought he was not wanted there any more then so he made this little rhyme : -
    When I go back they tell me go away
    That Marshall will do all their ploughing with the grey.
    But let them alone till their land runs in bawn.
    And 'tis then they'll remember their Sullivan Seán.
    A bit of his Skelligs list ran like this : -
    I can't get a wife in any place,
    Either the work-house or the pawn,
    But still there are a few round the
