Jack Daly was a man who used to go round selling fish and cloth. You would always know he was coming because he used to roar out.
Fresh fish alive and their eyes open
    Do not belie the dead.
There was a certain family who would never buy any of the fish. He used to call that house Misery House. He used to sing, "The Plaid Shawl", "The boys of of the County Cork" and "Killarney"
Betty Mahony was an old beggar-woman. She used to come round telling stories. She used to be called "Betty the Stick" because she had a lame leg.
