  1. There are three raths in my district. There are two little ones besides. They are not far from the raths. Some people say that the mens houses for guarding the rath lived there. There is a big deep pit around each one. Near every rath there are springs of water.
    There is a very large rath on the top of Rathmoon hill. It was supposed to be the pagan Milesians who put it there. The rath is raised about ten or twelve feet above the ground. They were a clay and wood construction. There was a wooden house inside the rath.
    There is another rath in Carrigeen bog. There is a very deep dike around it. There is a big pond of water down under it. They used to pump
