  1. The local landlord was Mr. Barret who resided near Macroom. Their family were not settled in the land at all but when they wanted the rent they wrote to the people for it. They then sent agents around to them to collect it. Godfrey from Bantry was one of the agents for Drominidy. They were looked upon as very bad landlords though they never evicted a tenant.
    About forthy years ago there lived in Lahana a Hurley family. They owned a farm and they let grazing to a man called "Seán na gCaorac". They left the farm and "Seán" kept the grazing after a while he was accused of "Grabbing".
    A fight arose and "Seán" was shot.
    "Seán na gCaorac we know was shot"
    "By some landlord man who contrived the plot.
