  1. Local Marriage Customs.
    Marriages take place on Shrove Tuesday and before Advent in my locality. The month of May and a Saturday are considered unlucky for marriages. Matches are made in my district and money is given as dowry but stock or goods are never given.
    People dont remember the marriages taking place in the houses. There is always a marriage feast held at the brides home. Straw boys visit the house that night looking for money or drink they cheer for the bride and groom. The bride and groom go away on their
