The mother then made tea but the girl would not eat. They then put her to bed but she wouldn't sleep either. "Arah Pat" said the mother, "She's going to be poor comfort to us of she wont talk eat a sleep." "Never mind mother" said Pat, "it won't be long till I find out what is the matter with her." Pat started down to boreen again and he went under the same tree for shelter. It wasn't long till the fairies came on again on horseback. "We hadn't much for our journey tonight," said the first. "No matter," said the second, "he will soon get tired of his bargain when he finds out that she will neither talk eat or sleep." "Once he removes the magic thorn I put in a ringlet of her hair" said the third, "she will have enough to say, perhaps too much" "That is all I want to know" said Pat, so off home with him and he took out the thorn out of the ringlet of her hair and then(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
