    Bands of fellows especially the "Mollies" used to go around together to wakes, and they would put the place under them, and they were generally told who were against the party, and those people usually got a fine "drubbing" before the night was over.
    "Lifting the old nag"
    One man lay down on the floor to represent an old horse that was spavined and windbroken. He called on the people around to lift him. Nine or ten men got around and tried to lift the nag but they failed. The leader then ordered them to take off their coats. They tried again and after much puffing and blowing they failed. The shoes and stockings were ordered off. They failed again. The shirts were ordered off, so that the lifters had nothing on but their trousers. Then after much pulling & puffing they succeeded in lifting the nag. The light was then put out, the clothes were all mixed together, and the lifters began to dress. If they were anti party men that were doing the lifting, perhaps one or two men were waiting outside
