A crowd of neighbours were gathered in Murray's house. A lot of stories were related and one of them was an exciting ghost story.
Martin Roche and John Maloney were coming from Straide late one night. John Maloney went into a horse, but, Roche went on. Soon he reached McHales house near the hoirrailway.
Then he heard a queer sound, and he saw himself surrounded by people he once knew but who were now dead.
He started to run, and remembered that if he crossed a stream he would be safe. Soon he did cross a stream and the ghosts vanished. He was sick for a week after that.
