  1. About twelve months ago a man called Michael Mr. Ginley was on his way from Downing's Bay to Letterkenny fair (which is a very long way) with a load of herrings. Within half a mile of the town his donkey gave up under the heavy load, and he commenced to thrash it with a heavy ash plant.
Just then the Rev. Dr. Mr. Neely, while out for a walk, came round the corner. He happened to see him and he started to lecture him for abusing the dumb animal, by reminding him that our Saviour rode into Jerusalem on an ass.
"Well, Your Riverance" said Micky, "if had been this lazy brute, He wouldn't have been in Jerusalem yet."
