  1. I live in the Townland of Socker and in the Parish and Barony of Kilmacrennan. There are nine families in my townland and there are about forty people in it. The family name most common is McGlynn. The majority of the houses are thatched. There are two old people over seventy.
    They are -
    Mrs. Wilson,
    Socker, Trenta, Co. Donegal.
    and - Hugh McGlynn,
    Socker, Trenta, Co. Donegal.
They are both very good at telling stories in English but neither of them know any Irish.
Houses were more numerous formerly than latterly. There are not very many ruins as the stones were all carted away for some purpose. A few people emigrated from their home to America.
The land is very hilly but the soil is good. The river Lennon runs along the border of my townland and there are four bournes rising in Socker hill and flowing into the Lennon.
