    Do you know ?
    "Is't because that the evening is wintry and wild,
    And the wind round the corner sobs sadly the while,
    And the bitter hoar frost lies on gutter and tile ?

    "Is't because of the ships on the ocean that ride,
    By the cruel waves buffeted side over side,
    Tossed and beaten by tempests that mercy deride ?
    Is it so ?
    No, not the wild winds or the frost makes me sad,
    It is not.
    There's a wind far more cruel than Boreas, I ween,
    There's a frost than the winter's more biting and keen,
    There's the harsh wind of power, the sharp frost of Spleen
    It is that
    It is not for the strife elemental I grieve.
    It is nor,
    A warfare more deadly our fair land infests,
