    The warfare of passion and hatred unblest,
    It is that.
    Not because that the vitims are godless and vile,
    They are not.
    But because that the tyrant has power controlled,
    To wring from his serfs greedy quantum of gold
    And our fair land is shrouded in slavery's gold
    It is that.
    Not because that I fear his base power will last,
    I do not.
    But the struggle is fierce in which all must engage,
    And the enemy's strong in his merciless rage,
    And the sacrifice great in the battle we wage,
    It is that.
    It is not that I tremble such power to feel
    It is not.
    But across the grew mountains said wailings float o'er
    As cot after cot in their vengeance they lower,
    And I weep for the homeless in famished Gweedore
    It is that.
    Do we vow wild revenge in our anger and grief?
    We do not.
    We leave them to Him who holds all in His hands
