  1. 1. The fairs are held in the lawns nowadays, there is a special place called a fair green. Long ago fairs were held at the crossroads leading to Kilconnell. There were fairs for sheep cattle horses and on a special day there would be a goat - fair, this is not held now. There was a song sung every time there would be a goat fair.
    I
A Bansha peeler went ere night
    On duty and patrollin'-o,
And met a goat upon the road
And took her for a stroller-o.
    II
With bay'net fixed he sallied forth
And caught her by the wizzen-o
And then he swore a mighty oath.
"I'll send you off to prison-O."
