  1. This is the people grew flax. First they bought flax seed and sowed it. This was sown about the twenty second of June. It was left growing until it was ripe. It ripined in the same way as oats. Then it was pulled by the heand and when it was long enough pulled that it was wel seasoned it was steeped in a pool of water. It was left in the water until it was soft and fit for lifting which was generally about a fortnight. It was then lifted and spread on the grabsin a ledge to dry, that is leaving it without being tied. It was then taken up when it dried and tied in sheaves and stooked.
