    On St Brigid's Eve which falls on the last day of January the man of the house goes out and cuts rushes and conceals it outside of the house...

    rushes under the table and says grace and asks all to taste of the meal. The feast is over the rushes are placed in the middle of the floor and young and old weave a cross. Next day the crosses are blessed by the priest and one is hung in each room and in every out house.
