  1. In my district certain days are looked upon as being lucky or unlucky. Saturday is supposed to be an unlucky day to begin work. It will either be a short job or a long one. It is also said to be unlucky to change from one house to another as "Saturdays flitting is a short sitting." The 1st April is supposed to be an unlucky day also to begin work. Anything born at Whitsuntide is said to be unlucky for instance a horse foal born on Whit Monday can never be trained. If it is put under a sod of earth after it is born the bad luck is supposed to be taken away. Certain cures such as the cure of the sprain and
