  1. Dan Master Sullivan had an old school in Deelis. There wasn't any seats but stones. When a new scholar used come in Winter Dan Master used say "Welcome new scholar, when you are coming tomorrow bring a stool with you" and in summer he used say "Welcome new scholar take a stone off the ditch and sit on it." One penny per week was his charge to every scholar. Along with being a good teacher he was a good musician. His wife begged all day while he taught. They died in Tralee workhouse and they are buried in Kilgobbin Grave yard. Their house was at Drimmineen Bridge and after its falling there were more
