  1. There was a man in Castlemaine living in a house very near the [?] Maine called Summers. There used to be jobbers lodging with him and he had a trap bed. When a man would [?] into it, he would fall down [?] a sluice into the Maine and get drowned. He used have all their money and clothes. One day there did a man come to Castlemaine fair and he lodged with Summers the night before the fair. He had a dog and just as he was going in to bed the dog caught him by the tail of his shirt. He kicked the dog and made a second attempt to go into the bed and the dog caught him again. He kicked the dog again. He was making the third attempt to go in when the dog jumped in himself and down through the bed and disappeared. The man examined the bed and saw
