  1. The substantial meals in the olden times were potatoes and skimmed milk. They had three meals in the day breakfast, dinner and supper. The people used have a days work done in the mornings before they would get their breakfast. Potatoes were eaten three times a day. They used to put a big bag in the middle of the floor and empty out the potatoes on it, and sit around it and eat.
    When the Danes were in Ireland they used to make a drink out of the heath that used cure everyone sick that would drink it.
