    laws were in force, the English would be very angry if they heard priests say Mass and they would cut the heads off them.
    A priest named Father Murphy was caught saying Mass one day, but escaped. About a fortnight after as he was riding on horse-back, the English caught him and cut the head off him and his left arm as well as the horse's ear.
    There is a stone to be seen near Annagh Church on which it is carved out.
