  1. Potatoes are grown in our farm. An acre of land is sown under potatoes each year.
    My father prepares the ground for the potatoes. The ground is manured before it is ploughed. The potatoes are sown in ridges. We make the ridge with the plough. It is a four sod ridge.
    In olden times wooden ploughs were used, but not now. The spades are bought in a shop.
    All the neighbours help on another to sow the potatoes, and this is called "coring".
    We earth the potatoes twice while growing.
