  1. John Brosnan of Glounbawn was a noted storyteller. He used to go rambling to the houses of the district, Dan Culloty's, John Moynihan's and Charles McCarthy's and spend the night telling stories even though the Winter nights were long, they only seemed as long as an hour for his listeners. He loved to tell of the Cross Roads where the ghosts of dead people used to be seen and of haunted places. He used travel late at night.
