  1. On St. Brigid's night many local customs were observed. In the evening a member of the family went out to gather rushes. Crosses were made of these. At 12 o'clk at night the same member of the family went out and taking the crosses in his hand - one for each member of the family and went around the house twelve times. The rest of the family kneel at the door praying to St. Brigid.
