  1. Long ago spirits used be seen in the forms of animals in many places. These spirits used take on the shapes of horses, cows, pigs and hounds.
    A certain man travelling from Killarney to Fermoyle, which is in our school area, on horse-back was followed by a white hound. When the man saw the hound he stepped his horse. The more he stepped his horse the more speed the hound seemed to make after him. When he reached Mulla an t-Sagairt[?] which is about a mile outside Sneem on the KIllarney road
