- Old Schools.
In ancient times there were no school houses, and farmers houses, barns and fields were used for schools. There was an old school in this district long ago. It was situated along the road leading from Gowna to Granard in County Cavan. It was an old thatched barn belonging to Patrick Dolan of Cloncovid.
The teachers taught their pupils always in the barn. The oldest people in Cloncovid do not know the name of this school but they say it was an old Irish name called after the parish of Drumlummon.
