    Three and four of a family died from Cholera, and sometimes a whole family was wiped out. No one came to the funerals. The dead were put into roughly fashioned boxes and left outside the houses. At night time the corpses were gathered & put on a cart and brought to the graveyard and buried in deep pits.
    Within recent times -say about thirty or forty years - it happened that a teachers two children died of fever of some sort. Only two neighbours turned up at the funeral so great was the fear and dread of fever since the Famine.
