  1. About seventy or eighty years ago people did not wear shoes as shoes were unknown to them at this time. The girls used to go to the dances barefooted, but as years went by they began to wear as they were called "straight shoes" that is there was no difference between the right shoe and the left. Then about forty years ago when they were going to market they used to carry their shoes with them and when nearing the town they put them on.
