  1. There are not too many forts in this district. There is one in the townland of Carrowkeel. It is a rather high fort and it is surrounded by small thorn bushes. It is a circular fort and there are steps or stairs around about it. Those steps are cut out in the earth.
    In the centre of the fort there is a big entrance hole. Sometimes the young boys of the neighbourhood go into this big hole and continue going ahead until they reach the darkness, then turn back because they are afraid to go any farther.
