  1. The proudest boast of the Irishmen of the West was of their firm devotion to the Faith implanted in their ancestors by St. Patrick, all during the terrific Penal Code.
    People were bribed to give information about Priests and a man named Seán Maloney or "Seán an t-Sagairt" was employed by the British Government as a spy.
    He worked in the South of Mayo and after in the districts surrounding Kiltimagh and he got £5 for every Priest's head he got for the Government.
    Maloney had helpers and often the Priests were captured saying Mass in the
