  1. The local fair has been held in Kiltimagh for many years. In big towns, there are places known as fair-greens where the fair is held. The fair green is usually near the town. In Kiltimagh they hold the fairs on the street and sometimes when cattle are dear, or there is a scarcity of stock, buyers go out to meet the cattle, and buy them at cross-roads.
    In this town, it is customary for the owners of cattle to pay what is called Custom money or tax to a Custom - man. A
