    A notorious ruffian named Maloney, better known as Seán an tSagairt lived in this district. He was operating with villianous activities spying on the Priests who were offering up Holy Mass in private houses or in the open. He was paid a high salary for spying by the British Government.
    He was given five pounds for the head of a priest and ten pounds for a Bishop's head. They were hunted about from place to place and he sued to seek
