  1. In olden times people only had their meals three times a day. These meals consisted of breakfast, dinner and supper. At daybreak, people went out and worked for a few hours and then they came in and had their breakfast.
    Each meal consisted of oatmeal in some shape or form. Before potatoes came into this country people lived on corn. They had oatmeal porridge. Then when the potatoes came into use people used them. They nearly always ate the potatoes with buttermilk. People ate their meals around a little table in the centre of the floor. Then when it was not in use it was hung up.
