  1. There were three famous places in Greyfield in which schools were held. Lismore, Lisnacuala and in the Winter they held a school in John Tuohy's house. James Higgins was the teacher who taught in those schools. He was a protestant and was a very well-educated man. He was a native of this parish.
    He taught English, Writing, Arithmetic and many of his pupils were well-educated. He taught no Irish and did not allow any Irish to be spoken by
