  1. Basket-making
    To make baskets long ago the people used to gather fine “sallow” of the same size and boil them for about two hours in a large pot. After that they took all the bark off them and let them dry. When they were properly dried they were steeped in a little vinegar. They had to be dried again before they were fit for use. Then they had to be woven together in the shape of a basket.
    Soap-making
    The people used to make soap in this district long ago. They killed a cow and made very good soap out of the tallow along with a little paraffin
