  1. Once upon a time St Columba arrived at Mintiaghs Lough. He foretold that a boat load of men would be drowned there. There are no local boats on the lough, and up to the present no drowning has taken place. A boat owned by a Derry merchant is kept there for fishing. There is a plentiful supply of brown and white trout, but because of the prophecy no local boats are kept there.
