  1. There lived in Carroghill once upon a time, a woman named Bridget Kavanagh.
    Carroghill lies North on the way to Carndonagh.
    One day when Biddy was out herding above a quarry, she heard boards rattling, and these were the exact words she heard, "Shall we coffin her, shall we coffin her." She ran for her life, and when she reached her own door, Whom should she see but a boy wrapped in a sheet, and it on fire. Next she saw a cow, and her tail on fire, and running in the moss towards the Mintiaghs Lake.
    In the end she saw her go into the lake and dissapear.
    This is about five hundred years ago.
