  1. The Local Patron Saint
    The saint that is connected with this parish is Saint Catherine. The present church that is in the parish of Aughrim is built under the patronage of Saint Catherine.
    Saint Catherine had no monastery in this parish. I do not think that she worked any miracles in this place. It is said that Saint Catherine is buried on Mount Sinai.
    There are a few places in this parish called after Saint Catherine. The Parochial House, the National School, the Catholic Church, and the graveyard are called by her name. There is also a holy-well at the back of the national school and it is also called by her
