- (continued from previous page)The remains of the church are near the site of the present church. Outside the village there is the remains of an old bog named Monabrathar. It is called after the monks of Kilconnell Abbey When they were hunted from the Abbey they took refuge in the bog. There is a farm called Carrowreigh from Creaíramad Réid.LissardThere is a high fort in the townland. Near Hillswood there is a hill called "Spike hill". There were ten spikes on a high wall. The "spikes" were made of stone and they were about four feet high. It is the remains of the stand house for the steeplechase from Clonrbock to Coraneena. "Spike hill" is supposed to be sixty feet above Galway Bay which is twenty miles away"Lecarrowmactually:- Farm divided into half-quarters - This stretch belonged to a man named Tully. Adjoining this is Caramanagh - the monks' quarter.The O'Kelly's had a castle in Calla up to the Battle of Aughrim. It was tehn called Carlow.Glananumar:-The Ridged Field.
