    Those days of long ago,
    When Brummuck* beat six Peelers down,
    The Hill of Carran Row

    Those days when Men were noted strong,
    Irish guards and Connaught Rangers,
    When round our town they used to Throng,
    There was no say for Strangers.

    In days when the water was spring,
    And they thanked the almighty giver,
    They would not use that uglything
