    In days when men knew how to toil,
    They would not sit and dream,
    When all in Gort used Parrafin Oil,
    and not the Shannon Scheme.

    When men lived happy and lived long,
    In what's now condemned, abodes,
    I bet they were twice as strong,
    When Gort had no Stream Rolled Roads.

    But a change has now come over all,
    We have Ganger and Wood Rangers.
    The natives must hold up the wall,
    For Gort is the home of the stranger.

    Gort welcomes numbers great and few,
    Its not like the dog in the manger,
    Gort is the home of the wandering Jew,
    Yes, Gort is the home of the stranger.
