  1. How part of Co Leitrim was lost.
    Many years ago Co. Leitrim was over run by foxes and in order to exterminate them, the landlords offered five shillings for every dead fox brought to them. The landlord for what northern part of Co. Leitrim in which the district of Blacklion was than situated, refused to pay for a fox, which was killed in that district.
    The Leitrim tenant brought his dead fox across the Cavan border to the landlord there who willingly paid him his five shillings for the dead fox.
