  1. In this district we have very many townlands but I think that the biggest townland in this country is Kilcoosey. In this townland there are twenty houses and a school. There is also in this townland a lough and a big river which is called the blind river. There are many stories told about this blind river. Once upon a time there were two old men working on the side of the river when they saw a big eel coming up out of the river. They started to peg stones at the eel and behold didn't the eel hurl out of the river and hurled after them. The two men ran for their lives. This eel
