The big men and women used to go about the house in their barefeet and they used to have shoes for going to Mass or going to the town. The people long ago when they would be going to Mass or to the town used to carry their shoes under their arms and when they used to get near the town or the chapel they would put on their shoes with a great struggle, for their feet used to be swollen from the walking on the bare ground.
