    dear, because they were scarce. There was a hedge-school above near Thade Hurley's in Tonevane, and another one in Shea's in lower Tonevane.
    The teachers that slept in the farmers' houses, paid the farmers by teaching their clildren. The seats they had were flat stones. When the farmers' cows were left out they used spread clean straw on the floor. It was a mixed, for boys and girls attended. The teachers used not remain long in the district, because is was very easy to get teachers.
