- All young boys and girls love to make toys. The young girls go out in the fields and gather flowers. They put holes in the stems and they put a string through them.
Boys make toys from thread-spools and they make guns from elders. They make cradle-birds for catching birds in the Winter. They make snares for catching rabbits and hares.
They get up early in the morning and they go out to look at them. They catch a lot of rabbits and hares with them.
Men make baskets with rods, and they bring turf in with them.
Boys make whistles and flutes with elders. They make holes in them and they blow into them.
They make whistles with chestnuts also. They put a hole in the middle of the chestnut and they clean it out.
Young boys make balls out of corks and leather. They get a lot of corks and leather.
They sew the leather outside the corks and then they start hurling it.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
