  1. We have a very nice churn at home it is a green one with the hopps painted white. It is about three feet high and two foot and a half wide.
The sides are straight and narrow in the middle.
It is about a year and a half old. The different parts of the churn are called the hopps the caisín the churndash the joggler and the lid.
The butter is made about once a week each year. The woman that makes the churning and the family helps.
Any one who comes in during the churning helps to make it
In olden times it was thought that if any one went out without making the churn would bring the luck of the butter with him.
