  1. Bread was made from oats and wheat then being brought to the mill and the oats would be ground into meal and the wheat into flour both grown locally in the land.
    People remember quers being used in the district for grinding oats into meal. The different kinds of bread that were made are boxty, cakes, potato cakes, soda cakes, the boxty cakes were made with flour, boild potatoes, raw potatoes, and mild and then baked in a pan.
    Potato cakes were made from flour mixed with boild potatoes, new mild and baked in an oven.
