  1. Bread was made in the olden times from wheat made into flour and from oats made into oatmeal grown locally in the land. People remember grinding stones being used and heard that such were in the district.
    The different kind of bread that were made was potato cakes, boxty cakes and oatmeal cakes. The potato cakes were made from flour and potatoes. The boxty cakes were made from some boiled potato and some raw potatoes and flour. There was milk used in making flour bread and water in making oatmeal bread. There was bread
